Xenia Data Licence and Terms of Use

1. Who this is for

These terms govern any use of Xenia data by a business, a developer, an application, an assistant, an agent or any other automated system — whether that data is reached through the Xenia API, the Xenia assistant interface, a file or feed Xenia supplies, or any Xenia page. Using Xenia data means you accept them. If you are a traveller reading about a property or reserving a stay, nothing here restricts you.

Nothing may be used without permission. Xenia data is licensed, never sold, and only to a party Xenia has granted access to. No right to use it arises from the fact that it can be reached, read, requested or received.

2. What “Xenia Data” means

This definition is deliberately specific, so that there is no argument later about what was covered. Xenia Data means everything Xenia makes available to you, together with:

the structured property records Xenia compiles, and the selection, wording, naming, grouping and arrangement of the facts inside them
the pre-answered decision trees Xenia publishes for each property - the questions, the order they are asked in, the answers, and the routing between them
the markers Xenia attaches to each figure showing where it came from, how well supported it is, and when it was last checked
the results Xenia returns for a search - which properties are returned, in what order, and with what match reasoning
the reservation links Xenia issues and the information they carry
the schemas, field names, identifiers and document formats Xenia uses to express any of the above
any copy, extract, summary, translation, index, embedding, vector, training set, evaluation set, model weight or other work product made from any of the above, in whole or in part

Xenia does not claim ownership of a bare, individual, publicly known fact about a property — that a hotel exists, or what street it is on. What Xenia owns, and what this licence covers, is the work of finding, checking, choosing, wording, ordering, grouping, scoring, dating and answering: the compilation and everything built on it.

3. What your licence lets you do

If Xenia has granted you access and your account is in good standing, you have a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to:

Answer a question a person has actually asked you, in your own product, at the time they ask it.
Show the facts you relied on to that person, with the attribution line below beside them.
Send that person to the Xenia reservation link for the property, unchanged.
Hold a copy for up to 24 hours so you can keep answering the same person without asking us again.

Every use must carry the attribution Source: Xenia (xenia.travel), visible to the person you are answering, beside or beneath the facts it supports.

4. What your licence does not let you do

Without separate written permission from Xenia, you may not:

Use Xenia Data, or anything made from it, to train, fine-tune, evaluate, ground, distil or improve any model, index or retrieval system. This is the one we are asked for most often and the one we licence separately, in writing, or not at all.
Keep, store or accumulate Xenia Data beyond the period above, or rebuild it from your own logs, caches or answer history once that period has passed.
Redistribute, resell, syndicate, sublicense, publish or otherwise pass Xenia Data to anyone else, in whole or in part, whether or not you charge for it.
Build a dataset, catalogue, index, knowledge graph or embedding of properties that stands on its own once Xenia Data is removed from it.
Retrieve records in bulk, or on a schedule, in order to assemble a copy of what Xenia holds rather than to answer the questions in front of you.
Remove, alter, obscure or work around the attribution, the source and support markers, the identifiers, or any marking Xenia includes in a response.
Present Xenia Data as your own, as another company's, or as unsourced.
Share, resell or pool an access key, or work around the rate, volume or plan limits attached to it.

These apply to you, to anyone acting for you, and to any system you operate or direct.

5. Training and model use

To remove any doubt: making Xenia data available to a model at the moment a person asks a question, and discarding it afterwards, is permitted and is what this licence is for. Retaining it, indexing it, embedding it, or using it to train, fine-tune, evaluate or improve a model is not permitted under this licence at any scale, including a single record. Those rights exist and can be bought; write to licensing@xenia.travel.

6. Marking

Xenia responses carry markers that identify the account a response was issued to. They are inert, they describe nothing about the property, and they exist so that Xenia can tell where a body of data came from. Removing or altering them, or attempting to, is a breach of these terms and evidence of intent.

7. Accuracy

Xenia compiles from public and property sources and marks how well supported each figure is and when it was last checked. Xenia does not warrant that any figure is complete or current, and nothing here is a representation by a property. Anything essential to a stay should be confirmed with the property. Xenia data is provided as is, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent the law allows.

8. Reservations

A Xenia reservation link takes a traveller to the property’s availability and rates at the best available rate with no booking fees. The stay itself is between the traveller and the property. Reservation links must be passed on unchanged and must not be wrapped, rewritten, framed or substituted.

9. If these terms are breached

Xenia may suspend or end access immediately and without notice. On termination you must stop using Xenia data and delete every copy you hold, including anything derived from it, and confirm in writing that you have done so. Xenia keeps every other remedy available to it, and any right not expressly granted above is reserved.

10. Changes

Xenia may update these terms. The version number and effective date at the top change when it does, and continued use after that is acceptance. A material change to what is permitted will be notified to account holders in advance.
